Why we only make extraits
Most perfume is diluted until it is polite. Here is what changes when you stop at 30%.
Concentration is a decision
An eau de toilette sits around 8% perfume oil, an eau de parfum near 15%. An extrait starts at 20%. Ours sit at 30%, which means less alcohol between the materials and your skin.
The difference is not only how long a scent lasts. At higher concentration, the heavy materials — resins, woods, leathers — come forward. The perfume reads closer, warmer and more textured.
What we give up
Extraits are expensive to make and slower to sell. They do not fill a room in a department store. We are fine with that: we would rather be found than announced.
